Rummy 500 is a shareware implementation of the game that is sometimes referred to as Five Hundred Rum. The real-life game is for two players, here it is played against the machine.

The basic game is a variant of rummy where players meld cards of the same rank or in sequence by suit. Points are scored for cards laid on the table while cards that remain in the player’s hands at the end of a round count against them. The game gets its name because the winner is the first to five hundred points.

This game plays the standard game as defined by Hoyle’s rules, however there are multiple variations available in the menu bar along with other features such as autoplay, statistics and league tables, six levels of AI opponent, and save/load functions.

The shareware version has a nag screen that appears between rounds and pauses the game for five seconds.
